What is it?
The European Language Portfolio is a personal tool for all Europeans wishing to become ready Citizens for a multilingual and intercultural context . The potential practicality , adaptability and the effects resulting from the use of the European Language Portfolio were tested during a pilot phase (1998-2000) , with different groups of learners , in 15 states and 3 NGOs and in a variety of Educational and widely differing situations contexts .
The Portfolio
It ' a personal document intended to document the individual learning process of modern languages and facilitate the development of metacognitive strategies . Also it aims to enhance the personal linguistic experiences both in academic contexts and multiethnic plurilinguistici both during study tours or contacts with tourists.
Goals
The positive results are documented in various publications and reported at various international conferences . These results testify to the validity of the ELP as a means of increasing the intrinsic motivation , promote self-esteem , facilitating the development of autonomy and encourage lifelong language learning for those who want to adopt it as their own agenda of study.
European identity
The Council of Europe coordinates the introduction of the European Language Portfolio as a personal document , through this we want to encourage and recognize language learning and intercultural experiences of all kinds , helping the seats processes to increase awareness of membership European cultural identity.
